Long Weekend – Post 4 – The Zombie Series
The following is a fictional account leading up to the Zombie Run I will be running on August 2. If you ask a question though it will be answered from within the universe this story is set.
Nothing new for this weekend other than having it off and actually getting some real hamburger for dinner. See there is one advantage that comes from getting chosen to run for your life, no need to hoard those food credits. The way I figure it if I don’t use them now I might not be around use them later. If there is one thing I learned from my time fighting the deaders it’s that you eat when you can eat. Can’t even count the number of times I almost got taken out but I’m not going out hungry that is for sure.
In the long run though it doesn’t really matter, it’s all about luck. Take last year for example. Retired Major Tommy Jenkins. Great soldier, could full out run at least 15 miles with a 50 pound pack on without stopping. Tommy made it less than 50 feet into the run when he tripped over a branch and became a zombie snack. On the other side we have Eugene Tidwell. IT guy, has asthma, not sure he could run up 3 flights of stairs without fainting. Odds of him making it through the run, zero to none. 50 people started off at the line with him. 1 person finished and that was Eugene Tidwell. Luck, some people have it and some people don’t.
Had my time off so hitting the trail tomorrow and I’ll let you know about the intersection in the next post.
